Another day

Well, I got my quilt top cut out and that means today I will sew it up. Hopefully I can get a pic up before the day is over. So, here is my LONG list of songs that really remind me of the 90's, I've got to get it pared down though:

Ordinary World- Duran Duran: This song just IS middle school, which happened in the 90's

Lovefool- The Cardigans

Crazy- Aerosmith: another middle school song . . .it actually makes me think of riding the bus.

Head Over Feet- Alanis Morrisette

Underground- Ben Folds Five

Good- Better than Ezra

December- Collective Soul

Shine- Collective Soul

Too Much- DMB

Stay- Lisa Loeb: Have you honestly heard a better song????

I Alone- Live

Where It's At- Beck

No Rain- Blind Melon: It would not be a 90's cd without this song. The bee costume!

Chemicals Between Us- Bush: I don't know how much I really love this song, but in the 90's I really did love Gavin Rossdale that much.

6th Ave. Heartache- The Wallflowers

Closing Time- Semisonic

6 Underground- Sneaker Pimps

Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden: This song really introduced me to a different sound.

Walk on the Ocean- Toad the Wet Sprocket: I can't tell you how many times I heard this my freshmen year at college.

Mary Janes Last Dance- Tom Petty: Another school bus classic

Undone- Weezer: it was a tough choice between this and Buddy Holly

What's the Frequency Kenneth- REM

Everybody Hurts- REM

Zombie- The Cranberries

Gangsta's Paradise- Coolio: I remember my sister and I recreated in photo's the lyric "You and your homie's might be lying in chalk" on our driveway. I'm sure the neighbors thought we were cracked out. I wish I could find that picture . . .

Always Be My Baby- Mariah Carey: this is the ONLY Mariah Carey song I can still listen to.

This Is How We Do It- Montel Jordan: LOVE ITTTT

So, I talked a little bit in my last post about Swap-Bot, but I'm going to talk about it a little bit more . . .that's just the way I roll. I love it so much. I've been participating in some CD swaps lately and I have two coming up that I am really excited about, I Miss the 90's and My Favorite Songs. It's so great because I get to make 3 cd's and send them to total strangers, and I'll get cd's from total strangers and get introduced to some new music and maybe even reminded of a great little tune I've completely forgotten. I'm still fine tuning my song selections for My Favorite songs, but here's a sneak peak of how things are turning out:

Bleeding Love- Leona Lewis (seriously, check this out, its SO good)
Everything- Michael Buble
Go Your Own Way (Live)- Fleetwood Mac
Say Goodbye- Dave Matthews Band
Nights on Broadway- The BeeGee's
Run- Collective Soul
Somebody (Live)- Depeche Mode
Oh L'Amour- Erasure
Somebody to Love- George Michael
Ice Cream- Sarah McLachlan
In My Dreams- REO Speedwagon
Loving, Touching, Squeezing- Journey
Under Pressure- Queen
And So It Goes- Billy Joel
This Ain't A Love Song- Bon Jovi
Wonderful Tonight- Eric Clapton

I'm not 100% sure this is how things are going to pan out, and I'm nowhere near getting my 90's list together, so I'm open for suggestions!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Well, it's been a busy time for me. I've finally gotten out of my post-holiday madness "funk" and got the sewing machine out to make some new curtains and pillows for my FABULOUS new family room. After about 18 months it is finally a room and I am so happy!!

I also finally made it back over to Nancy J's after some minor car troubles that included no heat in the van and too much heat on the engine. Here are some of the goodies from that trip, aren't they so yummy???? Plus a couple of them were on sale which is even better!

This week I also made some noodles for the second time; they were better than the time before and so easy to make. I had no idea that you could make noodles and use them the same day, so now there is no going back to noodles from the store. Don't they look great drying on the newspaper? I had a roast and some potatoes and we had the best beef and noodles for supper the other night. It was a very cold day, and these were just perfect.

I've also finally got some things in my Etsy shop, and this week will start the madness all over again. I've got to cut out two quilts so that I can sew them up before the end of the month (2 cousins have babies on the way!), then I have to get things around for the MULTITUDE of swaps I have signed up for. Do you know about swapping??? It's so addictive . . .possibly even better than Ebay, and that's saying a lot since Ebay is basically internet heroin.

True Love Never Dies and Music Snobs

So, for those of you who know me, (and I'm guessing most of you do since you've found my little corner of the world), it will come as no surprise that I still love The New Kids on the Block. I have purchased all three cd's within the past 10 years; "I'll Be Loving You Forever" was played at my wedding reception, and Joey McIntyre is STILL cute. I am OVERJOYED to see this. Some of you will probably be laughing; I am sure that when Ben reads this He will roll his eyes and my dear husband, Brent, will be wondering again, what he has gotten himself into. When I think about NKOTB it makes me smile; they made happy music. There is something to be said about music that just makes you feel good. A lot of people look down on this kind of music; these people are music snobs who feel there is no place in this world for the music played on the radio. Their taste in music is so superior, they often refer to it as having a "refined pallette". Music snobs have strong feelings about people being "artists". It is not enough to sing so well that you bring people to tears. For a music snob it would only be enough if you wrote the song, on a guitar made from a tree that you grew in your yard, that was originally bought at an "organic tree farm". I am sorry if you are a music snobem. You are missing out on truly FANTASTIC stuff, like Air Supply, Journey, REO Speedwagon, NKOTB. Cheesey pop music is SO great, I am literally at a loss for words to appropriately describe it.
